Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
