The star has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the MVT, which operates to protect the UK's small music venues.

The star was awarded the cheque on October 16 as his third album People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has opted to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues played in his initial steps.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by applying a modest fee to their ticket prices, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also participated, collecting over £100k on his live tour to help 38 local spots across the UK.

The money supported spaces that were dealing with potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received financial assistance in improving facilities and gear that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in big venues supports the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," the star has commented.

In recent years, the band gave their prize money to the youth organization that developed their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

And the 1994 recipients the group donated their prize to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the condition.

"Winning was sufficient," said vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the cake. So our victory affected another person's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued several local spots in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

The first in the city and the other in that location were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
